Good morning! What better way to spend your Sunday morning than reading about another one of our talented makers, Alison Waterhouse of The Seasonal Larder.
Alison makes Handmade preserves and The Seasonal Larder’s motto is grow local ~ preserve local ~ think global. Alison used to work as a business consultant specialising in sustainability but she then decided to take a more active & practical approach to the issue.
The Seasonal Larder was founded in 2011 with the key aim of maximising the use of locally grown food – the main ingredients for all their products are always grown within 50 miles of their base in LS25.
Alison sources her ingredients from a mix of commercial growers, foraging and “crop swaps with people who have grown more in their garden or allotment than they can use”. I look forward to seeing what she can create from our surplus pears this year!
My favourite product that Alison makes is her Rhubarb cordial, apparently it makes a lovely Bellini when mixed with champagne! Oh and her strawberry sauce is AMAZING! Come to Our Handmade Collective and buy it while you can!
